The New Jerusalem

Jesus promised to go and prepare a place
Large enough so that it would hold them all;
No one that e'er lived of the human race
Would be homeless, of those who heard His call!
As wide and as long as it was in height,
A perfect cube, made of the purest gold;
It was translucent, so that all was light;
Fifteen hundred miles was each side, all told!
Each of the whole race had a suite, it seemed;
From Adam and Eve and Methusalem,
To aborted and all who lived between;
And it was named the New Jerusalem!
The throne room was so wide, so long and tall,
Redeemed souls and angels: It could hold them all!

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (John 14:1-3)

Notice Jesus promises that He will return for the apostles and, by extension, for all Christians. Remember, too, Jesus is God. There are so many names for God used in the Bible that it is difficult to keep in mind that God is all those beings. Jesus is coming back to earth, and according to the book of Revelation, it will be soon.

"I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven, from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed forever.'" (Revelation 21:2-4)

Revelation 21 describes the destruction of the present earth and heaven and the creation of a new earth and heaven. Heaven will be on earth, but it will be very different from the earth on which we now dwell. The curse of Adam's sin will be removed, and the earth will be more beautiful and lush than the Garden of Eden. The Holy City described in scripture above is the "place" promised by Jesus for believers to dwell in with Him. It is described as a "bride", because all His followers comprise the church, which is figuratively prophesied to be the Bride of Christ. Please read the entire chapter to get a detailed description of the New Jerusalem and some of the things we will enjoy in heaven. I do not know if this huge building is to be real or allegorical, but 1500 miles wide, long, and tall is hard to imagine. We must remember, Anything is possible with God.

John 14:3
Lots of people believe Jesus is saying that He personally comes to the dying to take them to Heaven. If not, are angels there at the last breath to escort? What are your thoughts? Does the Bible address this or is it matter of interpretation?
