The peace from this world is at best but brief,
And cannot extend beyond the present,
Before falling victim to any thief,
Giving way to worry far less pleasant!
But when to Jesus our hearts are given,
We’re kept safe in His hand forevermore;
Nothing against us can e’er be driven
In this life or the next, on heaven’s shore!
Peace of Jesus shields believers from fret;
Illumines the black night brought by the grave;
Shows the endless perfect life coming yet;
And frees from cares that in the flesh enslave!
Jesus’ peace can’t be bought, earned, or
swindled;
It’s given when true belief is kindled!
Promise Made: John 15:27—“ ‘Peace I leave with you [Jesus speaking]; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ “ [Brackets added]

“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
