GPP 32: Grave Holds No Body

When the trumpet sounds, and Christ comes again,
On earth some Christians will be living still;
The dead in Christ shall rise, and lead the train;
Heaven’s hosts and the saved the sky will fill!
In the twinkling of an eye, live ones change,
Their rising bodies become lasting new;
Remains of saved dead come forth from crypts
strange,
Their bodies restored, everlasting, too!
That happy meeting ‘twixt Savior and saint,
When each dead in Christ retrieves his own soul,
Begs for master artist to lasting paint—
Christ leading His armies—on timeless scroll!
O death! Where is your sting, the wage of sin?
You could not hold sinless Jesus therein!

Promise Made: 1 Corinthians 15:51-55 (Paul writes)—“Listen, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep [meaning, die], but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true. ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.“ [Brackets added]

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
