God's Special Revelation

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise
the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure, and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
They are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warmed; in keeping them, there is
great reward.
Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from wilful sins; may they not rule
over me.
Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This beautiful portion of David's Psalm 19 describes God's special revelation of Himself to man, which is the Bible. Not dictated by Him, but through His Spirit's guiding the forty authors over more than one thousand years, we have laid out for us God's great master plan, conceived by Him to its last detail before time began and before there existed any matter or energy at all. The Bible is true in every word; any knowledge achieved by man will be found to dovetail perfectly with its revelation when time ends and what is now hidden is revealed. In fact, the Bible itself is probably the weightiest evidence man has access to of the existence of God, because of its internal consistency and completeness. It is a miracle in and of itself that such an intricate and complex system of theology resulted from such diverse languages and sources.

For example, in yesterday's blog, we saw that one of the thorniest questions about Christianity----that is, what about God's justice to all people, when many will never hear the gospel of Jesus Christ; should remote pagans be condemned to hell justly?----is resolved by the Bible in Romans 1:19-20, where we are told that nature itself spreads knowledge of God all over the world, and no man is excused from knowing Him! They, too, can be saved by "hearing" the voice of God in the natural wonders of His creation! "Seeing" God in nature is possible for everyone; that is called general revelation of God. C. S. Lewis calls Psalm 19 the "greatest lyrics ever written". The Bible contains the answers to any question doubters can pose.
