Among the wonderful things our Lord did:
The Book of Life, in which the names of we
Who would be saved were written, sealed and hid,
Before the earth was made, or called to be!
No, He did not pre-select heaven's heirs,
Or condemn in advance the poor others,
But He knew the future and all its snares;
Satan's deceptions, his traps and smothers!
God knew who would accept the Savior's call;
And who, despite all, would firmly reject.
He knew who nature's beauty would enthrall;
Those who, by obeying, He would elect!
The Book will be opened on Judgment Day;
Names, present or absent, will choose which way!
"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated upon it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them,and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:11-15)
This scripture passage describes the final resurrection, in which all the remaining dead of earth's history will be gathered in new imperishable bodies; and the final judgment. The saved, who are the believers in Jesus Christ, were resurrected earlier at the Second Coming to earth of Jesus; they have already been judged. The others are condemned to spend eternity in hell, which is a lake of burning sulpher. They will suffer torture and pain forever, without end. Satan, the fallen angels, the beast and the false prophet will suffer alongside the men and women they enticed away from God.
Statistics show that a great majority of the 40 billion people who lived on earth will reject Jesus and therefore will spend eternity in the lake of fire. It is difficult for any who have accepted Jesus as Lord to understand why their fellow human beings do not accept the call of Jesus to be saved. It is a better life while we live on earth, and it is a paradise for eternity.
