Where Old Is Good

Make no fun of my games of solitaire;
Endless puzzling o'er blank crossword designs;
How my long sleeps all the night hours pare;
Or my pompous scribbling of awkward rhymes!
Just think, my young friend, in a day or two,
While this headlong world speeds its heedless way,
Its affairs ever more remote from you;
Only the ungray get called to the fray!
You, too, will hunt pastimes to while the days,
Wearying of mindless TV-sitting.
Higher grail beckons youngers to the chase.
You, too, will be found dreaming and knitting!
But, old is good, in the Kingdom to come;
Pride of youth is for the world you are from!

Euthenasia is a word you may as well get accustomed to---it is a fixture in the Universal Health Care Bill in the last stages of a high-speed initiative under consideration in Congress. It will legalize and encourage "assisted suicide" for elderly Americans as a cost-saving help. Our overcrowded nursing homes are a grim testimony to our culture's impatience with the cost and care of extended life for incapacitated seniors. Added to legalized abortion which murders 4000 unborn babies a day, those who seek to save money and care by reducing life will no doubt celebrate the passage of the new legislation. The Bible teaches us that life begins at conception and to value and respect the old people. The Ten Commandments of God will immediately be reduced to Eight, for "Thou shall not murder" and "Honor your parents that you may live longer" are cancelled by our elected representatives. Congratulations, America. (This is bitter satire, of course.)

The Kingdom of God will be different. In heaven our bodies will be untiring, sickless, undying; it lasts forever; there is no night. We will associate with those slain in the womb, who will probably be grown to their prime of life; ancient patriarchs like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Being old will be good in heaven, for your advanced age will bring respect and admiration from the younger Christians; God Himself will be the oldest, for He has been living forever, since before there was a sun, which He made. Fruit trees will produce their foods every month, and the water is the water of life---as you drink it, your life is extended forever. Heaven will be the whole earth with the curse that God put on it because of Adam's sin removed; it will be the Garden of Eden a million times multiplied.

Friends, don't ask what has happened in America to draw us away from the values it was founded upon. What is wrong with America is the few people who take the trouble to vote have swallowed Satan's lies, and we have become exactly what he wants us to be.
