GPP 57: Unity In Truth

Jesus prayed more for unity between
His disciples than anything other,
But scads of church brands clutter the earth’s
scene,
Each claiming truer truth than another!
Mature believers are scarce as hens’ teeth;
Infants abound, Bible wisdom lacking;
Burping babes, resting on Christ’s promised keep,
Their lives unchanged, sit on grace’s backing!
Growth can come, for whom the Bible searches,
And heed God’s Spirit, if yet unquenched;
There’d not be so many brand-name churches,
Had born-agains not from the Bible flinched!
While here on earth, Christ desires us to grow,
Speaking the truth in love, and Bible know!

Promise Made: Ephesians 4:14-15 (Paul writes)
“Then [when believers have matured into unity] we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up in him who is the Head, that is, Christ.” (NIV) [Brackets added]

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
