Darkness drapes all when black despair besets,
Drowning hope in floods of deluging woe.
No loss so costly, or greater indebts,
As hope, when strong winds of deep trouble blow!
Thus lay the world before the virgin birth,
When only a few looked ahead for Light;
At last heaven opened; hope came to earth,
When Christ died, man's death sentence to requite*!
We sing, who with Him do the Kingdom share,
Our faith overcomes the former despair;
Hope in deep valleys does the shadows melt,
The Lord's presence near, and it's always felt!
Though trials rage, rains fall, on sinners and saints,
Yet believers' hope removes their constraints!
*requite = paid in full
"Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In him great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade---kept in heaven for you." (1 Peter 1:3-4)
For most people, certain death hangs over like a dark cloud that never goes away. Unless science discovers a way of extending life, death and finality will come in a few short years. After that, they expect only a black nothing-ness, unbroken forever.
Some of us hope and believe firmly in a vastly different future. Based on the Bible, and we have no doubt of its truth, our death is not the start of a black nothingness, but the beginning of a new life that is incredibly better than this present life. Not only new life, each will have a new body that never grows old, gets sick, or dies. Not only that, we will live in a world without evil, tears, despair or loneliness, worry or strain.
And this present life? You have no idea how rich, full and happy it is once you have the hope of a future like that! It would be far better than with no afterlife, just living in the love that Jesus taught only; I mean, being a Christian is a happier life, even without the rewards a Christian expects after death! Do you want that happiness for yourself? It is free, and I can tell you what you need to do! Just ask!
