The Unredeemed's One Prayer

"O Lord, if you are there for men like me,
And not too busy with angels and saints;
They say you will favor any man's plea;
Grant all my wishes, and show no restraints!
Then I will know that you are no fable
Invented by men to soothe the frantic."
No answer came from my grace at table;
I decided God was just semantic!
Foolish! To believe the lie that God
Would bless one that had always ignored Him,
Unless he pledged the narrow road to trod;
To obey His Son, and let this world dim!
Repentance is the only prayer God hears
From one who's avoided Him all his years!

"They refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and stopped up their ears. They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the Lord Almighty was very angry. When I called, they did not listen, so when they called, I would not listen, says the Lord Almighty." (Zechariah 7:11-13)

Karl Marx once called religion "the opiate of the people". Since most people ignore God, the Bible, and churches, devote their time and energy to the things of this world, it seems that only a few are "addicted" to religion. It has always been like that; ancient Israel, God's Chosen People, certainly ignored Him and received the judgment of having their nation destroyed; over a million were slain and the rest taken captive by the Romans in 70 A.D.
He would not have done that had He heard prayers of repentance and dedication to follow the laws He had given them.

It is much like that in the world today. A majority of people immerse themselves in this world's affairs and do their best to ignore God, despite the awesome beauty and power of nature, the Bible, and a flood of preaching the good news of salvation through Jesus. Some, perhaps sincere, challenge God by praying for His help in problems they face; when they receive no answers, most angrily use His inaction to declare His non-existence. The Bible passage above clearly voices His policy: If we listen to Him and obey, then He will listen to us. The only prayer He hears from a non-believer is one of repentance for sin and request for forgiveness. After that, the new believer will be swamped with blessings he requests from God.

New Age postmodernists have spread Satan's lie that God is so loving that He will respond to anyone's prayer. They have many followers, for they base their supposition on the false assertion that God dwells inside every person; they say there is no sin, no guilt, no judgment; when you pray, look no further than inside your own being---whatever answer enters your mind is from God.
What a devastating lie! Those poor souls who fall for it are judged already as being condemned to hell!
