God's Precious Promise 13: Christ's Gentler Yoke

He only is the ‘master of his fate,
And captain of his soul’* who knows the Son,
Choosing Him Lord at the earliest date,
Before his walk on this earth is done!
To make no choice is foolhardy indeed,
For ‘no choice’ is to choose the prince of sin;
Man must invite Jesus, for Him to heed;
If the door is not opened, He won’t come in!
Once in Jesus, no one can be cast out;
No fear’s left in life, not even the end;
Life will go on—of that, there is no doubt;
No trouble; no tears; and nothing to mend!
With no more delay, the wise will choose Christ,
For life speeds apace, and’s gone in a trice!

*Invictus, by W. E. Henley

Promise Made: Matthew 11L28-30 (Jesus speaking)—“ ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is
light.’ “ (NIV)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life,” (John 3:16)

“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved,” (Romans 10:9)
