Confessing your sins causes small regret,
When selective and living as before,
But that is no way God’s forgiveness get,
And the Spirit’s nagging you still ignore!
Unless all your sins to God are rehearsed;
True repentance weighing heavy your mind;
And righteous living from Scripture researched;
Doing all these, you will forgiveness find!
If stiff-necked pride precludes bending your knee,
As stubborn Israel the Messiah refused,
Heaven will stay deaf to your mercy plea;
In hell you’ll be tormented and abused!
Confessing sins is a small price to pay
For tearless unending celestial day!
Promise Made: 1 John 1:9—“If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” [Brackets added]
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
