We count birthdays to mark our years since birth,
As if their climb adds wealth to our account,
When, in fact, each means one less year on earth,
Subtracting treasure from our fleshly fount!
But Jesus says all of us who believe
In Him will be saved from death to new life,
That we can everlasting new life achieve
In heaven, where there are no tears or strife!
Lasting life is bestowed only through grace,
To those with faith in Jesus as Savior;
So none can boast, “! earned life in this place”;
Grace is God’s gift: Unmerited favor!
Jesus of Nazareth was “God with us”*;
Eternal life results when Him we trust!
*”God with us” = Immanuel (See Isaiah 7:14)
Promise Made: John 6:10—“ ‘For my Father’s will [Jesus speaking] is that everyone who looks at me and believes shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up [resurrect him] on the last day.’ “ [Brackets added]
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
